DES BARREAUX DE FRANCE
National Council of the French Bars
Being informed of the conditions in which Mr Aref M A was sentenced and is now imprisoned, the Conseil National des Barreaux representing all the French Bars :
- denounces
the fact that the government of Djibouti has not allowed freely appointed
French lawyers to act in accordance with the rights of the defence
- quotes
that it is a violation of article 21 of the French-Djiboutian Convention
for judiciary cooperation and of article 7 of the African Chart for the
Human Rights and the Rights of the Peoples
- worries
about the imprisonment conditions of Mr Aref whose life is said to be in
danger
- appoints its president to give the current motion the largest possible circulation
